Many may consider São Paulo to be a concrete jungle, but more than 30 beautiful city parks provide refuge for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Some of the more better known parks in São Paulo include:

Ibirapuera Park

Ibirapuera Park is known as the “Central Park” in São Paulo, Brazil. This park was founded on August 21, 1954 to celebrate the 400th birthday of São Paulo’s City. Ibirapuera Park covers an area of 390 acres, and is surrounded by a busy neighborhood with some of the most popular attractions in São Paulo.

Carmo Park

Carmo Park is another leisure and sport recreation option for those living in or visiting São Paulo, Brazil. Carmo Park covers an area of 383 acres (155 hectares) and is surrounded by Atlantic Forest. There's a small portion of this land that's preserved from public access to preserve its beauty. The park is located in the neighborhood of Itaquera and is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm, at no charge.

Villa-Lobos Park

Villa-Lobos Park was founded in 1991 and is located in the High Pinheiros area between Nações Unidas and Foneca Rodrigues Avenues. It’s easy to access this park; its location is close to Pinheiros Marginal and the famous Ceagesp Street Market. Villa-Lobos Park covers an area of 182 acres, but only 56% can be accessed by the public. Villa-Lobos Park is a vast area covered with trees and huge flower beds. By the end of 2005 the entire area will be open to visitors.
