Guarujá Brazil
Sao Paulo Beaches
Guarujá is approximately one hour, or 53 miles (85 km), from the city of
São Paulo.
Buses leave for Guarujá every half hour from Tiete, the main bus terminal in São Paulo.
Guarujá is incredibly crowded, especially on weekends and holidays, because it's the closest coastal town for São Paulo residents. During the summer months in Brazil it's best to book
hotel reservations
in advance as it becomes nearly impossible to find hotels at decent rates.
The most popular beach in Guarujá is Pitangueiras, which gets so crowded that it's even difficult to find a place to setup your beach towel and umbrella! As well, the water is littered with swimmers, surfers, and people practicing various water sports. All along this beach you'll find many
beach vendors
selling drinks, food, souvenirs, and more.
The nightlife in Guarujá is absolutely fabulous. I went to an amazing club called Kaloa on the side of the rocks overlooking the ocean. It was great fun partying and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. I would definitely love to experience this again if I am so lucky.
