Ipiranga Museum

Sao Paulo Culture

South of Sao Paulo City in the Ipiranga Neighborhood you'll find Independence Park, within this beautiful park is the Ipiranga Museum, also known as Paulista Museum. The museum was created in 1895 with a mandate to save and record the History of Brazil. It does so by preserving such things as belongings from important Brazilian's such as Dom Pedro I, the leader of Brazilian Independence Proclamation. The Museum also holds many historical artifacts, such as historic letters, photographs, famous paintings, maps of the city of Sao Paulo, as well as historical documents that show the history of Brazilian lifestyle from the 1500s to the 1950s. The museum also shows the lifestyle of Paulistas (people born in Sao Paulo) who lived in Brazil during this period.
