My Sao Paulo Amusement Parks Experience

Amusement Parks

I had the pleasure of visiting all these amusement parks while in São Paulo, and I can honestly say each of them are well worth checking out.

Playcenter

Playcenter was a lot of fun! My favorite attraction at this park was the Castle of Horrors. I have been to many haunted-houses and scary movies in my day, but this was unlike anything else I've ever experienced. As you enter the Castle of Horrors the mood is set when you listen to an old man's story about the history of the castle. Afterwards you venture deeper into the castle, through a series of rooms and really dark hallways - it's almost impossible to see. Then, deep inside the castle, to my shock! horror! and amazement! (almost had a heart-attack at a very young age) real actors dressed in costumes jump out at you; and let me honestly say, these actors are skilled at scaring the heck out of you! If your lucky (unlucky?) some of them will take a fancy to you and begin following you from room-to-room, I nearly pissed myself! I can honestly say I have never before been so scared, it was great fun.

The only complaint I had about Playcenter was how busy it was. Sometimes it took up to 30 minutes before I could get onto a ride. However, with a city the size of São Paulo I can appreciate that places like this are going to get very busy.

Wet'n Wild

Wet'n Wild is extremely popular in Brazil and often gets very crowded. I however went on a cooler day, the temperature was about 68F (20C) and this kept the crowds to a minimum - in fact there weren't many people in the park at all.

There are many rides at Wet'n Wild, I particularly enjoyed the wave pool and water-slides. It's also nice that Wet'n Wild is located outside the city and right beside Hopi Hari Amusement Park. This makes it a nice escape from the 18 million residents of São Paulo.

Hopi Hari Amusement Center

I found Hopi Hari to be a great place to go with your family and friends, but make sure you plan to go for the whole day, it's a big park. The park offers many rides, one of my favorite was the wooden roller-coaster. This coaster is incredibly fast and gave me a good rush of adrenaline. I would recommend sitting near the back if you're into enjoying the good whips as the coaster takes the corners and steep slopes.

Hopi Hari I realized attracts a different crowd than that of Playcenter, I felt a bit safer. This is likely because Hopi Hari is a little more expensive than Playcenter and a bit further away. It was also nice to escape from the city for the day.

São Paulo Zoo Brazil

I spent an entire day at the São Paulo Zoo, there I was able to see many species native to Brazil. By far the highlight of the trip was the Zoo Safari Tour. The safari tour allows you to see the animals in their natural habitat, with no cage separating you from the animals. I was even able to feed some of the animals along the way.
