Sao Conrado is a very beautiful Rio beach located between Leblon beach and Barra da Tijuca beach. It's not always suitable for swimming due to the strong water currents but well worth a trip. If you're lucky you may see hand-gliders making their way down from Gavea Rock, a popular hand-gliding spot in Rio.

Just above Sao Conrado beach is the mountain home to the Favela of Rocinha (slums). The Favela of Rocinha is the largest favela in Rio, home to more than 200,000 residents.
