Corcovado Mountain
Tijuca National Park
Known around the world in all countries, the most famous Brazilian attraction in
Rio de Janeiro
is the
Statue of Christ Redeemer,
also known as Corcovado. Standing tall on the top of Corcovado Mountain in the neighborhood of Tijuca. The statue of Christ with his arms wide open to the city is enough to take your breath away.
The Christ faces
Sugar Loaf Mountain,
Copacabana beach, and
Guanabara Bay.
You may notice in many pictures, both on-line or on postcards that the Christ appears to face many different directions. This is because these pictures have been digitally altered to have the Christ facing forward, such that the desired background is captured in the photo.
