Statue of Christ the Redeemer
My Experience at Corcovado
After all the hype I had heard about
Rio de Janeiro,
I knew it would be an exciting place to visit, and the city of Rio exceeded my already high expectations. This city is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen, it's a gem of a city located between two major tourist attractions,
Sugar Loaf Mountain
and the
Corcovado.
It sits at the south east corner of Brazil surrounded by the lush Atlantic Forest.
The
Statue of Christ the Redeemer
was one of the first attractions on my list to visit. When I arrived I couldn't believe that I was actually there, standing in front of the Statue of Christ the Redeemer! The pictures of the Statue of Christ I had seen on television and in magazines didn't do it justice. Looking up at the Statue I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming connection to god - I felt so blessed.
While visiting the Statue of Christ I took in the amazing views of Rio de Janeiro. From the top of Corcovado Mountain I had a fantastic view of
Rio.
From this vantage point I could see
Sugar Loaf Mountain,
Maracana Stadium,
as well as many of Rio's 72 beaches, including the popular
Guanabara Bay,
Ipanema Beach, and
Copacabana Beach.
