The local currency in Brazil is known as the Real (R$) and it typically trades at a discount compared to most major currencies. As of February 13, 2006 for every $1 USD you could buy R$2.15 BRL (Brazilian Reals). If you’ve been following the Brazilian currency you’ll notice its gained a lot of strength over the past year.
