Liberty Neighborhood, also known as "Bairro da Liberdade" is São Paulo's Asian Neighborhood. It is the most famous and glamorous Asian neighborhood in Brazil. General Attractions

Liberdade Square - On Sundays from 9 am to 7 pm, there's a Feirinha (place selling homemade articles) and also a food fair. During normal week days you'll be able to watch or participate in the morning exercises sessions from 6:30 am to 7:30 am, while listening to good oriental music.

Portal of Viaduct Osaka - Symbolizes the cross from the terrestrial to the divine world. In Japan it is said that the more you cross one of these "portals" the better chance you have of having your soul purified.

Oriental Garden - Opened only in July for the "Star Festivals" and in December for the "Oriental Tokyo Festival."

Marukai - Supermarket offering Japanese and Korean products. Address #34 Rua Galvão Bueno.

Hotel Nikkey - Inaugurated 25 years ago, this Hotel offers the famous ofurô - an oriental bathtub for you and your lover; the hotel also offers Shiatsu massage sessions. At the time of writing (March 2006) 2 people can stay for one night for approximately $130 USD, or a room without the ofurô bathtub costs $90 USD. Japanese Furniture at Tsuruya Store - Sells furniture and home decorations, as well the famous Futon (a special thick and warm blanket). Address #55 Rua dos Estudantes.

Glory Street (Rua da Glória)

Food Center - 6 different restaurants with the best of the Japanese cuisine. Address #103 Rua da Glória.

Tomas Gonzaga Street (Rua Tomás Gonzaga)

Gombe - One of the most affordable Japanese restaurants in Liberdade Neighborhood. Address #22 Rua Tomás Gonzaga. In fact along this same street there are many great Japanese restaurants.
