Tijuca National Park

My Tijuca Park Experience

I saw so many amazing things at Tijuca National Park, and from the top of Tijuca Peak you feel as though you can see everything in Rio! I'm glad I went on a clear sunny day because I was able to see it all. Some of the sights I took in were the statue of Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Maracana Stadium, and many of Rio's beaches, including: Ipanema, Copacabana, and Botafogo.

As part of my Tijuca Park experience I signed-up for a jeep tour. I did consider driving through the park myself because many of the trails are accessible by car, but I didn't want to miss out on many of the amazing sites. Instead with the jeep tour I was able to sit back and relax while I was whisked throughout the park.

I particularly enjoyed the wildlife in the park. It was the first time I had ever seen a wild monkey - it was amazing! I didn't appreciate that wild monkeys would be so timid and shy of people, back home they're grabbing at you through their cages for hand-outs.
