My Sugar Loaf Experience

Sugar Loaf Mountain

Visiting Sugar Loaf Mountain was one the highlights of my Rio de Janeiro visit. I especially enjoyed the 3 minute cable car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf. Lucky for me I was one of the first onto the car and quickly found a spot by the window. The view from the cable car as it ascends to the top is fantastic, I couldn't believe how high-up I was!

Once at the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain I was so impressed with the view, I was speechless! I was blessed with a clear day and I could see for miles and miles in every direction. The sight that amazed me the most though, was that of the Rio-Niteroi bridge. This is a 14km long bridge connecting Rio and Niterói, and from the top of Sugar Loaf you get a real appreciation for this marvelous example of Brazilian engineering.

Sugar Loaf Mountain Cable Car While at Sugar Loaf I was lucky to meet a group of Brazilian women and men, who recommended to me that I stay for the amazing sunset - I'm glad I did!
