Barra da Tijuca beach is located in one of the more affluent areas of
Rio de Janeiro.
It's well known for it's giant waves, white sand, and beautiful people. If you're lucky you may even see some famous people such as Rodrigo Santoro, surfing some waves, or Gisele Bundchen, soaking up the sun.
Here too you will find the famous Pepe kiosk. It's a popular meeting place and a great place to find refreshments, snacks, sandwiches, and more. This area got its name from Pepe, he was a well known hand-glider who frequented Barra da Tijuca. Unfortunately he passed away during a hand-gliding accident.
